Bütün bu yönleriyle Halide Edip onun 'yalnız Türk edebiyatının değil, Rus ve Amerikan edebiyatlarından sonra, hikayecilikte cihan ölçüsünde ön planda bir yer işgal edebilecek bir hikayecimiz' olduğunu belirtir.
