Children's General Study Aids Editorial Review
**** DK Workbooks: Coding in Scratch: Games Workbook has been well received by parents and their children as an engaging and straightforward introduction to programming concepts through Scratch. The book stands out for its clarity in instructions and its accessibility for young learners, making it an excellent choice for both guided and independent study. Many reviewers highlighted the ease with which they could start programming right away, which has resulted in a positive experience. Parents appreciated that the workbook not only teaches foundational programming vocabulary—like variables, loops, and if-then statements—but also features interactive components like quizzes at the end of each project to reinforce learning. Children are able to create simple games such as Fishball and Ghost Hunt, which keeps them engaged and encourages a playful learning approach. Most feedback indicates that younger children, particularly those around the ages of 5 to 10, find the workbook great for their skill level, while some parents noted that older children who have prior experience might find the content too simplistic. This indicates that the workbook effectively caters to its target demographic of young novice programmers rather than those seeking more advanced material. Overall, the workbook has proven to be an effective tool for igniting interest in programming, fostering discussions about coding concepts, and providing a base for further exploration in the field. The success of learning patterns with Scratch has prompted parents to explore more advanced coding resources for their children as they progress. **
