Fantasy Editorial Review
** The Wall by Brian Penn** "The Wall" presents a unique blend of dystopian fiction enriched with themes of faith and character growth. Set in a devastated version of America in 2099, the novel captivates readers with its compelling narrative that follows Asher, a contraband smuggler striving to reunite with his fiancée amidst a world divided by a towering wall. The author expertly weaves elements of love, war, and moral dilemmas, creating a story that resonates with contemporary issues while maintaining an underlying spiritual theme. Readers appreciate the engaging storyline, which balances action and romance against the backdrop of a thought-provoking dystopia. While many enjoy the clean language that makes it suitable for younger audiences, some have noted that the initial setup can be confusing, and the pacing feels rushed at times. The novel's intriguing premise invites comparisons to popular series like "The Hunger Games" and "Red Rising," but fans have found that the novel stands out due to its unique religious undertones and character arcs. Although the characterization initially seems underdeveloped, it unfolds as the plot progresses, capturing readers' attention. The occasional awkward references to pop culture from the past century juxtaposed with the futuristic setting brought mixed reactions. Overall, the book's satisfying conclusion leaves readers eager for the next installment in the trilogy, pointing to its potential to attract a dedicated following among fans of both dystopian narratives and faith-based literature. **
