Nutritionist's Take
Real Milk Paint Dark Half contains dark tung oil and orange peel oil, which are generally considered safe for surfaces that come into contact with food, such as cutting boards and butcher blocks. The product is food-grade, indicating it does not contain harmful chemicals or additives. Tung oil, known for its water resistance and durability, is a natural product that offers a non-toxic finish desirable in food preparation areas. However, it is essential to note that while the oils used are food grade, the product itself is not a food item and should not be ingested. Potential drawbacks may include allergic reactions to citrus if present in high concentrations and the need for proper application and curing time to ensure safety. Overall, nutritionists may recommend this product as a healthier choice over synthetic finishes, emphasizing the importance of using high-quality, food-safe materials in the kitchen environment.
