The gate is very sturdy and well-made and will not allow pets to "nose" under it. The wood is solid and durable, making it difficult for pets to chew through. There is a doggie door for small pets to fit through and a latch that allows for walking through. The gate could stand on its own but would require a zip tie with a weight on it to prevent lifting. The gate also allows for L-shaped configurations, making it suitable for a variety of spaces.
