Music Videos & Concerts Editorial Review
**** Brian Wilson's "Imagination" DVD enjoys a warm reception from viewers who highlight its insightful exploration of Wilson's musical genius and his impact on the music scene. The DVD serves as a brilliant companion to the corresponding album, chronicling the making of Wilson's 1998 work while also features a captivating performance filmed in a small, intimate venue. Viewers are treated to an engaging mix of interviews and live performances, which include both well-known Beach Boys classics like "California Girls" and several gems from the "Imagination" album, further enriched by guest artists such as Christopher Cross, Timothy B. Schmidt, and Bruce Johnston. The heartfelt testimonies from legends including Elvis Costello and Stevie Wonder underline Wilson's profound influence on their musical journeys, providing an enriching context to the performances. Notably, the emotional highlight arises when Wilson performs "Lay Down Burden," dedicated to his late brother Carl, which resonated deeply with viewers and added a layer of poignancy to the overall experience. While seasoned fans are thrilled with the orchestra accompaniment and the vibrant performances, some lament the limited number of songs from the live concert. A desire for more musical content over discussions was noted, but the weighty praises from peers and the intimacy of the live setting allow the viewer to appreciate Wilson's artistry nonetheless. Overall, the DVD is hailed as a must-have for fans, encapsulating the essence of Brian Wilson's musical spirit and creativity. **
