What material is the Rothco Special Ops Tactical Soft Shell Jacket made of?

The Rothco Special Ops Tactical Soft Shell Jacket is constructed from a blend of polyester and spandex, providing a balance of durability and flexibility. This blend is lightweight yet sturdy, making it suitable for various outdoor activities. The soft shell design allows for breathability while retaining heat, perfect for both cool and moderately warm conditions. Users often appreciate this jacket for activities such as hiking, camping, or tactical training, where comfort and mobility are paramount.

Is the jacket waterproof or water-resistant?

The Rothco Special Ops Tactical Soft Shell Jacket is designed to be water-resistant rather than fully waterproof. This means it can repel light rain and moisture, keeping you dry during brief encounters with wet weather. However, for extended periods in heavy rain, additional waterproof gear is advisable. Many users find this feature useful during light outdoor activities like walking or casual camping, where adaptability to changing weather is important.

Does the jacket come with removable patches?

Yes, the Rothco Special Ops Tactical Soft Shell Jacket comes bundled with olive patches that can be easily attached or removed. This feature allows users to customize the jacket according to their personal style or mission requirements. Many find this customization beneficial for showcasing unit insignias or personal statements during outdoor events, tactical exercises, or casual outings.

What are the care instructions for the jacket?

To maintain the Rothco Special Ops Tactical Soft Shell Jacket, it's recommended to machine wash it in cold water on a gentle cycle. Avoid using bleach and prefer air drying to preserve the fabric's integrity. Proper care helps sustain the jacket's water resistance and color vibrancy over time, making it ideal for regular use in various environments such as hiking trails or tactical training scenarios.

Is the jacket suitable for layering in colder weather?

Yes, the Rothco Special Ops Tactical Soft Shell Jacket is versatile enough to be used as a layering piece in colder weather. Its flexible design allows you to comfortably wear it over base layers or under heavier outer garments. Users often layer it with thermal attire during winter hikes or early morning jogs, benefiting from the added warmth while maintaining mobility and style.

What is the fit of the Rothco Special Ops Tactical Soft Shell Jacket?

The Rothco Special Ops Tactical Soft Shell Jacket is designed with a tactical fit that allows for ease of movement without being overly loose. Customers typically note that it provides a snug yet comfortable fit across the shoulders and torso, which is essential for active use. This fit makes it ideal for tactical maneuvers, outdoor sports, or even casual everyday wear, ensuring you look good while remaining functional.

Are there pockets in the jacket and what are they used for?

Yes, the Rothco Special Ops Tactical Soft Shell Jacket features multiple pockets, including zipper and utility pockets. These are cleverly designed for secure storage of personal items like phones, wallets, or tactical gear. Users frequently utilize these pockets during adventures such as camping, where having secure and easily accessible storage can enhance the overall experience while on the move.

Is the jacket available in other colors or sizes?

The Rothco Special Ops Tactical Soft Shell Jacket is available in various colors and sizes including options like Black, Coyote, and Olive Drab. This variety allows users to choose according to personal preference or specific tactical needs. Many customers appreciate this flexibility, especially in team settings where uniformity in colors is often required during activities such as paintball matches or group outdoor adventures.

How do I choose the right size for the Rothco jacket?

To choose the right size for the Rothco Special Ops Tactical Soft Shell Jacket, it's essential to refer to the sizing chart provided by the manufacturer. Typical sizing considers chest measurements and desired fit. Customers often recommend measuring with a tape to ensure an appropriate fit, especially when layering clothing underneath. This attention to sizing ensures maximum comfort and functionality during various activities, from hiking to tactical training.

Rothco Outerwear 9767-wPATCHES Editorial Review

The Rothco Special Ops Tactical Soft Shell Jacket has received a generally positive reception from customers who have highlighted its warmth and practicality in cold weather. The jacket is designed for those who appreciate a minimalist aesthetic coupled with functionality. Many users have praised its great fit, although it was mentioned that it runs slightly larger than expected. This feature can be beneficial for layering, which is often necessary in harsh winter conditions. Customers have also noted that the jacket has an appealing military look, making it not only suitable for tactical situations but also stylish for everyday wear. The materials provide a medium weight, which strikes a balance between warmth and comfort. However, some users pointed out that the front pockets might be too deep, making them less practical for easy access. Similarly, the size of the hood has been likened to a "life preserver," implying it may be cumbersome in certain situations. Despite some minor critiques about the functionality of the pockets and the oversized aspects of the hood, the overall Consensus is that it is a great investment for those needing a dependable cold-weather jacket. Customers also mentioned their satisfaction with the product overall, indicative of a good quality rivaling more expensive options. **
