The spread of the jaws at the opening is 1 and an eighth inches, and from inside the jaw to the other jaw is one and seven eights inch. It is easy to use and has a good design for pitman arms. However, based on the reviews, this tool may not be suitable for tie rod ends or upper ball joints. The tool's throat is too small for some tie rod ends, and the fingers are too thick to fit between the tie rod end and the steering arm. The puller has also broken on some customers, with the threads giving out or the feet breaking off. Some customers have also found the puller to be too short to fit over certain parts. Overall, the Powerbuilt 648693 Pitman Arm Puller is a good tool for removing pitman arms, but it may not be suitable for other parts or for heavy-duty jobs.
